Finding Rest

Picture Credit, David Bowman - Pinterest

This weekend, I got to worship at a friends' house. One of my friends was praying while we listened to music, and he began to thank God that we can come into the throne-room - that we don't have to be afraid - that God takes off His lightning robe, and lets us climb into His lap. And that.... that really struck me.

What would it look like... if I climbed into the lap of my Lord? What would it look like... if I stopped trying all on my own, and found my rest in Him?
I want to know. I want to be closer.
That is my prayer, especially at this time in my life, when I've been letting so much fill my life, that I don't take time to... rest. I wanna find my rest in God again.

Finding Rest
3/21/15

What would it look like
To run into the Throne-room,
Unashamed,
Unafraid,
Unassuming -
Like a child, full of joy -
Like a child
Full of delight at being with my Father?

What would it look like
If I threw down my pain,
My brokenness,
And my fears
At the edge of Your throne,
And climbed into Your lap
To find my peace there?

What would it look like
If I opened my clenched hands
And put my rags of treasures
Into Your loving arms?
What would it look like
If I gave it all?

What would it look like
To let go of my plans
As well as my failures
And simply be...
At rest, in You?
What would that look like?

What would it look like
If I stayed on Your lap
And trusted day by day
That You see each step I take -
If I went to sleep
In the crook of your arm
And woke up in the peace
Of your Spirit?
What would that look like?

What would it look like
To find You in my moments,
As I'd see a friend
Walking right next to me?
What if I spoke to You
About all my life?
What if
I lived....
With You as my best friend?
What would that look like?

God...
Please show me what that would look like.

  1. I love it! It's very similar to the questions I've been asking myself recently. Good to see them written out, and so beautifully too :)
