I Asked You For It

While I was vacuuming after supper yesterday, I felt happy for no reason, and started to sing about it. Maybe someone was praying for me, maybe it was because I was praying- really, I don't need a reason why I suddenly felt the way I did. God is so good! I asked Him to give me peace for the day, joy for the day, and strength for the day. I made it through, and feel Him close again.

I Asked You For It 6/13/12

I felt joy today,
Without any reason that I can see.
You filled me up, and I sang my heart-
Thanking You,
Praising You,
Asking You to bless those around me,
And my future.
I feel like a child on Christmas morning,
With my eyes wide at the little things I've received.
Why should I be surprised?
I knew it was coming,
And yet,
I didn't truly know what it was
Going to be.
It's beautiful,
It's a gift-
One I should've known You would supply;
I asked You for it after all.
You always give,
But sometimes I forget to look.

This feels like
The sprinkling rain
On a warm afternoon,
And I'm spinning in circles,
With hands raised to the sky.
I'm alive
All wrapped in Your presence.
You promised You'd always
Be with me,
And right now I feel it!
Oh, how I feel it!
And it's beautiful,
It's a gift-
One I should've known You would supply;
I asked You for it after all.
You always give
What I truly need.

I can be such an ungrateful,
Forgetful
Child.
You're always guiding me
But I tend to get sidetracked
With what I
Want-
What I think I
Need,
And the little worries of the day.
Thank You for showing me
Again
And again,
And again,
That it doesn't have to be something
Big or flashy
To see You working.
It takes an open heart,
Listening ears,
And a passion to follow You with
Zeal.
And it's beautiful,
It's a gift-
One I should've known You would supply;
I asked You for it after all.
You always give
Enough for the day.

  1. Thanks for sharing, Za! I enjoyed this one :) (Question: Is the number on the Skype copy (240 or something) how many poems you've ever written? o.O)

    1. You're welcome, Andrew. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

To your question, yes, I've written 240-ish poems.(I've written about 40 of them since I published my book in January, though not all are worth sharing in my opinion.) I have a few more that are dragon poems that I don't include in that count. :D

      Thank you for commenting!
