Please Give Me

Please Give Me 1/15/12

Please give me
Faith unstoppable
In Your
Power,
Proclaiming boldly
I'm redeemed.

Please give me
Joy unspeakable
In Your
Presence,
Undeniably flooded
With rejoicing.

Please give me
Peace unshakeable
In Your
Arms,
Without fear
Of tomorrow.

Please give me
Confidence unmovable
In Your
Timing,
Patiently waiting
With trust.

Please give me
Hope emboldened
In Your
Strength,
Fully surrendered
To You.

Please give me
Life immersed
In Your
Love,
Totally filled
With You.

Past

Lately I've been pondering time. . .the Past, the Present, and especially the Future. . . and how God works outside of time to put all the pieces together.

Past  1/7/12
The past is behind us, lost to time;
It slips through the fingers
Never to be regained.

We sometimes flippantly use time
Then bemoan
The fact it is lost in past.
Why cry over spilt milk?
What is done
Is done
And it can not fully be reversed.

We sometimes hide from past
Because shadows
Are within it.
Why do we fully believe it defines us?
What is done,
Is done
And we are to move onward,
In step with our Lord.

The past is gone, but not fully lost
For some remember and learn
From what is behind them,
Instead of dismissing it,
Or shying from it.

We can not regain what was,
So let us look back;
Not to regret our past,
But to remember
That it is the beginning of what lies ahead.
For as twisted as the past may be,
Or as dark as the future can look,
God is within them
Both.

Life

The first two lines of this poem popped into my head out of the blue yesterday. Well, not totally out of the blue, since I was pondering essence and poetry. Why Essence Mapping Is Poetry.

Compared to some poems I've read, I don't think this poem is very essencey in general. I'm not even sure if I could even do essence "right", but it was fun just to try and think in those terms. Whether I wrote anything with "essence" or not, I did write, so I'm pleased. To God be the glory.

 Life  2/5/12

Time is an elusive thing,
Like a mist in early spring.
Dancing onward without pause,
Easily wasted without cause.

Past is a shadowed dream,
Partially retained as a flickering beam.
Remembered thoroughly by few,
Lost and drying as the dew.

Present is a battle ground,
Unsure of where in life I'm bound.
Wondering when is called retreat,
Or if the enemy shall cry defeat.

Future is a mountain high,
An ocean under midnight sky.
Uncertain questions at what will be,
Are useless as counting stars we see.

Hope is an enlightening ray,
Breeze that chases clouds away.
Breaking forth in blessed peace,
Reminding for our fears to cease.

Life is all these and more,
Hear the call upon Heaven’s Shore.
For as we stand in time to wait,
Our Lord's choices are not late.

Legacy

I think legacy is important for us to think about as Christians. God can use us to touch people without us being aware of it, and we must live with the knowledge of that. Our actions and words matter. When we die what will be remembered about us throughout generations?

My prayer is that if I am remembered for anything, it will be I loved my God, and tried my best to honor Him. I hope God uses me to bless even just one person who will fear Him and continue to show His glory; that is the legacy I want to leave.

 Legacy 1/17/12

One day I'll be no more.
I'll stand upon Your shore.
What legacy will I leave?
Who will carry on what I believe?

One day my crown I'll cast,
Before Your throne at last.
Who will remember me?
What will my legacy be?

One day I'll return to dust,
As human I know I must.
Will anyone know my name?
Will anything I do remain?

I'll be remembered for a time,
Then I'll be forgotten as this rhyme.
Does it matter what I do?
The answer lies in You.

I won't be remembered many years,
No one will contemplate my fears.
My life purpose is Your honor due,
When I die may all remember You.

'Cause when my eyes close in death,
And I've taken my last breath,
The one thing I'll leave behind, it's true,
Are the lives I've touched through You.

~ZA

This song sums up a lot of what I want to be.

I want to leave a legacy.
